In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Job Summary
We are looking for dedicated individuals to join our team, each specializing in a specific group within our Health Career Ladder Saturday Academy Program. Each role involves developing tailored curriculum for different student groups using the 5Es (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate) teaching model and incorporating the NGSS crosscutting concepts. Additionally, you will conduct curriculum coaching sessions to assist WesternU student volunteers in aligning their activities with the established curriculum goals.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Curriculum Development: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in designing educational curriculum, particularly for early childhood education.
- Educational Models: Familiarity with the 5Es teaching model and its application in creating engaging and effective lesson plans.
- Science Education: Understanding of crosscutting concepts in science education, including cause and effect, data analysis, explanation construction, and the use of models.
- Health Sciences: Basic knowledge of health sciences to ensure hands-on activities are relevant and engaging for students.
- Pedagogical Strategies: Knowledge of effective teaching strategies, with an emphasis on interactive and inquiry-based methods.
- Collaboration: Ability to collaborate with other educators and stakeholders to create a cohesive and integrated curriculum.
- Coaching: Skill in coaching and guiding student doctors in developing health sciences-related activities, fostering a supportive learning environment.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust lesson plans and coaching strategies based on student needs and feedback.
- Cultural Competence: Ability to work with a diverse group of students, understanding and respecting various cultural perspectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in education, science, or a related field; Masters degree preferred.
- Proven experience in curriculum development, with a focus on early childhood education.
- Familiarity with the 5Es teaching model and crosscutting concepts in science education.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Previous experience working with diverse student populations is a plus.
