The College of Health Science and Public Health (CHSPH) at Eastern Washington University seeks candidates for the position of Associate Dean. Reporting to the CHSPH Dean beginning Fall 2025, this is a full-time administrative position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Provide innovative significant leadership for the College of Health Science and Public Health (CHSPH) and fulfill responsibilities as delegated by the Dean. This individual will have an impactful progressive vision for effective teaching and research, student success and retention as well as possess strong interpersonal, communication, mentoring, and team building skills.
This position The next Associate Dean of CHSPH will effectively guide and represent the college in initiatives across the university, will assist in the developingment of a strategic plan related to the growth and capacity within the specific disciplines in CHSPH, and will ensure adherence to the colleges and departments policies and procedures P&Ps by working with the faculty.
They will This individual expand on internal and external relationships including fundraising to support and develop academic programs within CHSPH. Position This person will develop and engage a comprehensive plan to forecast growth within the college to meet current and future demand.
This individual will also assist and advise the Dean on administrative matters including college governance, student affairs, enrollment, curriculum, faculty teaching loads, program review, academic assessment and other matters assigned by the Dean to enhance the programs and mission of the college.
The next Associate Dean will be assigned to fulfill other functions as needed and as assigned.

The salary for this position is $130,000 (minimum) up to $160,000. Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience, and skills. Required Qualifications:
- Terminal degree in a discipline or a highly related with the College of Health Science and Public Health (CHSPH).
- Administrative or supervisory experience in a health science or related field at an institution of higher learning.
- Demonstrated interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility, and/or diversity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated successful mentoring health science and public health tenured track and/or clinical faculty for retention and promotion.
- Held the rank of Associate or Full Professor at a 4-year university/college.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in student support role at an institution of higher learning.
- Demonstrated success in obtaining external funding and its facilitation.
- Demonstrated experience in health science and related programs in accreditation.
- Demonstrated commitment to student success and retention.
- Demonstrated success in working with both internal and external constituencies.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse university/college and community members.
Job Duties:
The Associate Deans primary responsibilities are delineated by the Dean as follows:
- Represent the Dean on College and University committees and serve as executive-in-charge of CHSPH in the Deans absence.
- Enforce all policies, procedures, rules, and regulations adopted by the Board of Trustees and comply with the appropriate laws of the State of Washington
- Collaborate on program/college development projects at the direction of the Dean.
- Establish and maintain relationships with Department Chairs/School Directors and Academic Program Directors (APD) to support procedural needs within the College departments.
- Establish and maintain relationships with junior faculty members to support professional development needs as related to retention, tenure, and promotion.
- Establish and maintain relationships with senior faculty members to support professional development needs as related to promotion.
- Develop Faculty Activity Plans templates and Workload forms in accordance with CBA and College Policies and provide training accordingly.
- Collaborate with Chief Financial Officer, Operations Managers and Department Chairs/School Directors to verify workloads prior to Dean signature.
- Foster a collegial and collaborative environment within the College.
- Manage student-related issues in accordance with University policy.
- Oversee catalog proof approval process of all departments.
- Assist the Dean in facilitating faculty development and student engagement through scholarly activities.
- Provide leadership in program and curriculum development at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Enhance efforts focused on student recruitment, retention, and success including serving as Chair of the Holistic Admissions and Rural Stipend college committees.
- Attend Expanded Academic Affairs Council meetings.
- Attend College Board meetings.
- Attend College meetings.
- Serve as an ex-officio member of the College Personnel Committee
- Serve as the Deans representative in the Deans absence.
- Update Policy and Procedure manual on an annual basis
- Other duties as assigned.
Conditions of Employment:
