The Boston University Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) Center is seeking applications for a postdoctoral associate position to perform research with the goal of better understanding human neuropathology and inflammation. Using human postmortem samples from the BU CTE brain bank, the largest sports head trauma brain bank in the world, the candidate will perform genomic techniques, such as single nucleus RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics, in addition to histological analyses to identify the cellular targets most involved in the early and late stages of disease. The position will be part of a newly funded groundbreaking study that will examine how these inflammatory cell populations spread around the brain and how they contribute to the deposition of pathologic proteins to identify novel biomarkers or therapeutic strategies for CTE.
Under the supervision of Dr. Jonathan Cherry, and in collaboration with world leaders in the field of neuropathology, the postdoctoral associate will gain invaluable experience and insight into human neuropathology and neurodegenerative disease research.
