(Primary Location for Job Responsibilities) Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144.
Department Information
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise student Peer Counselors, including managing work schedules and assigned job duties
2. Review Owl Life student engagement data to track student participation and determine if programmatic outcomes are being met
3. Monitor the Wellbeing at KSU email account and provide timely responses to student inquiries
Job Summary
Delivers a wide range of counseling services including initial consultation, diagnostic and treatment formulation, crisis intervention, short-term individual counseling and psychoeducational and process focused group counseling to the campus community. Participates in prevention and education through the development and delivery of psychoeducational programs.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides direct clinical services to University students
2. Provides crisis intervention and after-hours emergency on-call coverage
3. Provides outreach and consultation to campus community
4. Develops and provides psychoeducational programming focused on education and prevention
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in counseling, psychology, social work, or marriage and family therapy
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid, and unrestricted license or license eligible within twelve (12) months of hire in Georgia
Required Experience
Previous internship providing counseling services
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Independent licensure (e.g. LPC, LCSW, LMFT)
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Doctorate in a mental health profession
Preferred Experience
Three (3) years of related work experience
Experience with electronic health record systems
Experience working with diverse individuals and groups
Experience with mental health issues in institutions of higher education
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Able to navigate electronic medical record systems
Able to provide culturally sensitive services to a diverse community
Successful collaboration with treatment team and external constituents
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of individual, group and couples counseling skills with young adult population presenting with concerns across the continuum of mental health
Familiarity with short-term models of treatment
Knowledge of professional, national, and state ethical guidelines
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite, Electronic Medical Record systems)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
